What is DOFF? Depth of field in photography is the zone within a photo that appears sharp and in focus. It is the distance between the closest and farthest objects in a photo that appears acceptably sharp. In every picture, there is a point of focus, but there is also an area both in front of, and behind, your point of focus. What factors effect DOFF? Aperture (f-number) Focal length of the lens Distance from the subject Sensor size other factors that govern the depth of field include the size of your camera’s sensor, the distance you are from your subject, and the focal length of the lens. The depth of field can be calculated by aperture, distance to subject, focal length, and the circle of confusion.
